Mental health foundation fundraising strategy
A fundraising strategy for a mental health foundation, bringing partnerships, volunteers and social together. Implementation pending trustee approval.
MARKETING STRATEGY
The challenge
The Grae Matta Foundation works to improve mental health awareness and standards in education and professional settings.
At the time of this project, it was run entirely by volunteers and was not yet a registered charity. This limited access to funding and support, including Google Ad Grants. It needed a practical plan to build awareness and donor engagement around mental health awareness dates in the final quarter of the year.
My role
I developed the fundraising and engagement strategy, covering partnerships, audience research, volunteer recruitment and social media activity.

What I worked on
Partnerships
I proposed working with universities and industry associations on joint campaigns, awareness activity and institutional donations.
Audience research
I ran engagement polls with the foundation's audience and newsletter subscribers to understand which subjects mattered to them. This informed the communications plan.
Volunteer recruitment
I planned a campaign to recruit mental health advocates who could organise fundraising through webinars, community events and workplace programmes linked to the awareness calendar.
Social media
I used personal stories and advocate testimonials on the foundation's social channels to support its awareness activity.
What was delivered
The work produced a fundraising and engagement strategy built around the foundation's available resources, volunteers and potential partners.
The fundraising campaign was put on hold pending approval from the board of trustees. There are no fundraising results to report from the proposed campaign.
